چکیده
An outbreak of canine brucellosis in Sweden was confirmed by the National Veterinary Institute (SVA) in August 2013. The whole genome of the causative agent was sequenced, assembled, and analyzed.

Complete genome sequence of Brucella canis strain HSK A52141, isolated from the blood of an infected dog.
Brucella canis infection can be clinically inapparent in dogs, and when infection goes unnoticed, there is a chance for dog-to-human transmission. A new strain of B. canis was isolated from the blood of an infected dog in order to analyze the pathogenic mechanism, compare genetic properties, and develop new genetic tools for early diagnosis of canine brucellosis. Herein, we report the complete ...
متن کاملGenome Sequences of Three Brucella canis Strains Isolated from Humans and a Dog
Brucella canis is a facultative intracellular pathogen that preferentially infects members of the Canidae family. Here, we report the genome sequencing of two Brucella canis strains isolated from humans and one isolated from a dog host.

* Correspondence: [email protected] Brucella canis is an etiological agent of canine brucellosis, a zoonotic disease that can be transmitted to humans. B. canis is associated with dogs, which are its natural host. In some cases, dogs can also be infected with other Brucella species such as B. abortus, B. melitensis, and B. suis; however, B. canis is the primary etiological agent responsible for can...
متن کاملGIFeGSH: A New Genomic Island Might Explain the Differences in Brucella Virulence
An imported dog was confirmed to be positive with canine brucellosis in Sweden in 2010. The whole genome of Brucella canis SVA10 was subjected to phage analysis (WGS-PA) and was assigned to the Asian B. canis cluster. Further analysis indicated that the genome of B. canis SVA10 is smaller compared to genomes of the same species. A 35,781 bp genomic island (GI) was found to be absent in strain S...
متن کاملMLVA and LPS Characteristics of Brucella canis Isolated from Humans and Dogs in Zhejiang, China
Background Brucella canis is a pathogenic bacterium that causes brucellosis in dogs, and its zoonotic potential has been increasing in recent years. B. canis is a rare source of human brucellosis in China, where Brucella melitensis has been the major pathogen associated with human brucellosis outbreaks. In late 2011, a case of a B. canis infection was detected in a human patient in Zhejiang Pro...
